November at the River Artisans

Here is our November Make it a Handmade Holiday class schedule. Taught by member artisans, classes are held at the 26B Main Street, Saxtons River shop and have a fee of $20 (except where noted). Some workshops have a small materials fee. The class size is limited to eight students, so students must pre-register.

 

Nov. 7 (Thursday) 
6–8 p.m.
 Project 
Crocheted Ornaments: Recommended for beginner to intermediate crocheters, students will create an ornament either in thread, sport- or worsted- weight yarn depending on skill level. Attendees may bring their own yarn and crochet hooks. Kits will be available for purchase for $7 during class time.

Nov. 9 (Saturday) 
2–4 p.m.
 
Glass Glitter Ornaments: Elizabeth Clausen teaches various ways of making glass ornaments festive, including using marbling with fingernail polish, melting crayons and torn paper, all topped with ribbons. There is a $5 supplies fee for materials to complete three finished ornaments. Attendees should bring a hair dryer.

Nov. 14 (Thursday) 
6–8 p.m.
 Lip Balms: Laura Senes teaches this class on creating soothing balms for winter lips. There will be a small materials fee.

Nov. 21 (Thursday) 6–8 p.m. Cookie Exchange: Bring a batch of a favorite homemade cookie and copies of its recipe. There will be cookies, coffee, tea, cider and a discussion of tips for making the perfect cookies, and baking gluten-free treats, as well as packaging and presentation ideas. This class is free.

Create unique ornaments with found objects from nature in The Woodie Wonders class

Nov. 23 (Saturday)
 2–4 p.m.
 Woodies Wonders Ornaments: Celebrate nature with ornaments made with collected pinecones, acorns, milkweed pods, lichen and twigs. Students are encouraged to bring their own natural elements though the instructor will have some available for a donation fee. Bring a glue gun and glue sticks.

Nov. 29 (Friday) 
6–8 p.m. 
The Perfect Presentation: Students will learn creative wrapping techniques, including how to get those ends neat, tie the perfect bow, and decorative accents, plus ideas for making packages almost too pretty to open. Students may bring along their gift purchases to practice on. Giftwrap, ribbons and add-ons will be available for purchase.
