Della Thompson is the Artist of the Month for July

Della ThompsonDella is a freelance artist and craft maker from Mt. Holly, VT who has been producing fine art and crafts for over thirty years. Her fine art specialties include pastel painting, theorem painting, portrait and landscape painting, and murals. Her craft specialties include fabric ornaments and toys, decorative pillows, specialty soaps, and aroma therapy bags. Other related specialties include sign making, calligraphy, advertising art, sewing, wall stenciling, art framing, and greeting cards.

Hailing from Myerstown, PA, she graduated from the York Academy of Arts and attended Pennsylvania School of Arts. The early years of her career included professional art design for pewter metalware, wallpaper and textile pattern design, as well as hand lettering and painting of signs.

Her beautiful work clearly expresses her approach: “The creation of a new craft or a work of art is in many ways a magical process. I see in my minds eye approximately what I want to create, but that is just a starting point. Once I have my pastels, pencils, or paint brushes in hand then the real magic begins. My main guiding influences are form, color, and Joy of Life. As the artistic creation unfolds, then my focus shifts to those details which will make the creation special and unique. Eventually I reach a point where it just looks right, and then it is done.”

Della’s work is shown at the Silver Spoon Gallery on Depot Street in Ludlow as well. Della is also available to do commissioned works of art (Call 802-259-2801 to discuss a commission).
