River Artisans is MOVING! Saturday, August 26th, will be the very last day we will be open for business at our present location in Saxtons River. On September 1 will we open at our new location in Bellows Falls – #28 in the Village Square, between Rock and Hammer jewelers and the Village Bookseller.
We hope to see all our loyal customers, and many new ones, in our bright new shop real soon!
Saxtons River Artisans Inc. takes this moment to particularly thank the schools who participated in submitting their art work to grace the Windows of our store this past year. The very youngest of “artists” from the Village Early Learning Center were the first to submit their colorful art work of trees and butterflies. We were then privileged to enjoy the beautiful mobiles throughout the winter season provided by the Saxtons River Montessori School. This spring, pretty paper flowers graced our windows from the Saxtons River Elementary School and, most recently Vermont Academy’s Art Department sent over some lovely and colorful samples of student art projects.
Art has many forms – and a lifelong appreciation can begin at the earliest age. We trust that some of these students may find themselves pursing a particular art form, not only as a hobby, but to fulfil their creative instincts through participation in art shows, art galleries, or in cooperatives such as the Saxtons River Artisans shop. Thank you student artists – we have enjoyed the art work you shared with us.
We are delighted to have the gorgeous handmade leather works of Paul & Tisha Chevalier in the gallery. The husband and wife team bring 3 generations of skill to their beautiful work. You can see more on their Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/mountainleatherdesign/
SUMMER TAG SALE!
Saturday, June 3rd – 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
– Rain Date on Sunday, June 4th –
Also – new items in the shop last week.
Nancy Peters’ adorable, cuddly hand-knitted menagerie and Bonnie North’s nature-inspired, hand pierced sterling jewelry.
Five people had the pleasure of creating and painting Goose Eggs under the able direction of SRA member Nancy Peters – just prior to the Easter Holiday. As it was a day that the shop was not open, it was decided that the class would be conducted in the kitchen of the Geist Home.
Nancy had all of the participants start out with the same pattern for the eggs. Directions were printed out for all. Nancy extended great patience and guidance as each person designed their egg, and, in the final stages, she encouraged everyone to add their own special creative touches. All had fun and once finished, each egg had its own distinct combination of colors and final design. But, it did seem evident that it would take many more practices before having eggs that resembled the beauty of Nancy’s Ukrainian Eggs that are located at our Saxtons River Artisans Shop.
We look forward to possibly having another class at a future date. Thank you to Nancy for all the preparation and guidance she gave everyone in this enjoyable venture.

Saxtons River Artisans welcomes photographer Jack Brayton to the gallery. Jack is a wildlife photographer who has traveled through North America these past three years visiting many National Parks. His photographs include wildlife subjects in their own habitat.
Being respectful, he uses high-powered cameras and lenses so as not to disturb his subjects.
In addition to having his images on various media for sale in galleries – and his work displayed in three venues in Florida – River Artisans is pleased to have several of his beautiful photographs for sale at our shop.
He is a currently a member of the Crealde School of Art in Winter Park, FL and participates in the National Geographic continuing education programs. Jack has family residing in Saxtons River and while staying in the area during June, July and August – plans to work part time at River Artisans. We know you will enjoy his beautiful artistry and perhaps will have an opportunity to meet him this summer. Jacks website is: micanopyphotography.biz
